HOW SHOULD I START PREPARING FOR THE SSB INTERVIEW FROM THE VERY BEGINNING? WHAT SHOULD BE MY STRATEGY

First of all one should be very clear about the entire 5 day schedule of SSB and prepare accordingly…

DAY 1:

1.    For PP&DT, practice writing stories….Make your story positive and involving lot of action…By action I mean the steps taken by the character to solve that particular problem…Make the story crisp and avoid long sentences….

2.    For discussion part of PP&DT, confidence is the key….Narrate your story with confidence and Take part in discussion actively….Try to be in first two speakers during discussion…

3.    For verbal and nonverbal tests practice is the key…More u practice more questions u will be able to solve there…

DAY 2:

On the second day, 4 psychology tests are conducted which include TAT, WAT ,SRT and SD.

1.    TAT is similar to PP&DT so the same technique applies here.

2.    For WAT u need to work on your vocabulary…Randomly take 20 words daily and make sentences on them… Make positive and meaningful sentences which display OLQs (Officer Like Qualities).U get only 15 seconds to write a sentence for each word so practice a lot and improve your speed.

3.    For SRT also, practice is the key…Your answers should display that quality which they are looking for..Make responses short but accurate...

4.    In SD(Self Description) test, don't lie anything and present your real picture…If u lie anything ,the I.O will surely catch u in the interview.

DAY 3:

In the Personal Interview, the I.O will ask u majority of questions from PIQ so fill everything carefully and don't lie anything…U must know about everything u write on your PIQ…For ex: If u write Basketball as your hobby ,You must know rules, dimensions of the court, ball and ring even. The I.O may even ask u about the organisations related to the game and which are the popular players and for which country or franchise they play..So work on these things and make a list about your hobbies ,co-curricular activities and your achievments in them as well as academics..

Apart from PIQ,The I.O generally asks lot of questions related to current affairs and G.K…Majority of them are related to the topics which are of Great significance to the country…Like he may ask u about Chabahar Port, CPEC ,OBOR, String of Pearls,India’s strategy to country string of pearls ,latest advancements in the defence sector…

Few questions may be related to your academic subjects also…Like what is Glass made of, What is nuclear fission and fusion…He may ask u a speed-distance question and sometimes he can ask u to tell him the dimension of the room..

For current affairs part, Read a good newspaper daily and be aware of the national and international issues…Subscribe to Channels like Study IQ and make notes on latest issues and revise them again and again before your SSB…

Confidence and communication skills also play a vital role in the Interview…Don’t panic and whatever I.O asks u speak with confidence…If u are not good at speaking English practice daily by speaking in the front of a mirror or to your siblings…This will also remove your stage fear..

Day 4: GTO tasks

First is group discussion in which the GTO gives u topics to discuss…You must take part in discussion actively and put 3–4 valid points and listen to everyone with patience…Don’t argue with anyone..To do well in G.D It's very important that You have knowledge about the topic…These topics are generally related to common issues only like Corruption ,Reservation so you must be aware of them very well so that u can put quality points…

Second is GPE. Analyse the situation given to u carefully and write a good solution utilizing the resources and time Given to u…It is good if u write start and finish time in ur solution.

Lecturette is a very important GTO task in which u have to speak on a topic for 3 minutes…You can do well in it if You have knowledge about the topic. I will suggest that take one topic daily and write on it and then narrate it with confidence…It will help u A lot…There will be common topics only like Role of woman in the society, Reservation, GST, Demonetisation etc. So It's better if u make notes on these topics.

Other GTO tasks are PGT,HGT ,CT and PGT…All these tasks are almost similar, the only difference being the no. Of members doing them…You can watch videos on YouTube to have A basic idea about them

For doing well in Individual Obstacles, you must be physically fit and have good stamina because more Obstacles you do, more you score…

Day5: Conference

It's the last day of SSB. All candidates are called one by one and are asked Some questions. The duration of conference may be different for everyone. Don't panic and answer all the questions with confidence .If u have failed to answer anything in the Interview, u must gather information about that question as they may ask u that question in the Conference.

At last ,I will say that whatever tasks u are given in the SSB ,give ur best and don't think about the results.

THANK YOU!
